Skomvaer / Batiks, Norway 2017
Beeswax, indigo, natural dyes, and pigments on cotton.
This series is a direct reflection of the spiritual relationship between myself and the natural world. These paintings were created on a remote Arctic island off the coast of Norway surrounded by sea and sky. Using natural indigo as a base, I also extracted other various colors from nature to use (roots, leaves, mushrooms, and lichen).
